Moscow expects success from the second round of inter-Syrian talks in Geneva. This was stated by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after talks with Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra.

“We need to respect the 2118 UN Security Council resolution, which calls for a truly representative character of the Syrian dialogue in order the entire spectrum of Syrian society to take part in it,” – said the Minister.

At the same time the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow was ready to consider the text of a new UN Security Council resolution on Syria if it is consistent with the principles of international law.

On February, 14 in Geneva there will be held a meeting of representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States with Lakhdar Brahimi. The talks will involve Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov and U.S. Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman.
