Russia participated in military exercises in the Caribbean off the coast of the U.S.

The ships of the Russian and Latin American Navy conducted exercises to combat drug cartels in the Caribbean, representative of the Northern Fleet second rank captain Evgeny Kirillov told reporters on Tuesday.

“The main theme of the exercises became working out of joint measures to curb the activities of organized criminal groups, to cut off the channels of smuggling drugs into the territorial waters of Latin America,” – said Kirillov.

The police of Nicaragua and special forces of Honduras took part in the exercises “Storm-2014”.
